The Family Business
Mario Marigliano is an Italian chef who began his journey in hospitality at the young age of 13. Born in Naples to a family with deep culinary roots, Mario discovered his passion for cooking early on. He later pursued formal culinary training and gained hands-on experience in some of the world’s top kitchens.
Mario’s interest in baking was sparked by his aunt’s deep dedication to cooking for her large family of 15. She didn’t just bake bread — she prepared full meals with love, skill, and a sense of responsibility that left a lasting mark on him. Watching her cook — sometimes for hours — showed Mario how food could bring people together, and it’s where he first connected the kitchen with care, tradition, and joy.
Mario left his hometown to explore Italy, working in several Michelin-starred restaurants. Over the past 16 years, his journey took him across Spain, England, Australia, and the United States, where he developed a special passion for pizza.
In May 2025, Mario began his newest chapter with the opening of Aria Alternative Pizza in Spring Lake.
At Aria, we blend the bold flavors of Italian-American cuisine with the authenticity of traditional Italian cooking. The word “alternative” reflects our commitment to doing things differently — with intention and integrity. Everything we serve is made from scratch, including our doughs, pastas (stuffed and dried), sauces, dressings, mayonnaise, appetizers, and desserts — all crafted using only the finest ingredients hand-selected by Mario.
